What is the NOZIN® Nasal Sanitizer® product?

The NOZIN® Nasal Sanitizer® product is a natural, long-acting antiseptic specially formulated to improve hygiene at your nose. As a main entry point into your body for potentially harmful germs, the nose can be particularly vulnerable. Better hygiene here can help reduce the risk of infection. Years of development has now resulted in a product that is highly effective, moisturizing and great-smelling so it is pleasant to use as well as protective. NOZIN® Nasal Sanitizer® antiseptic is a new advanced tool and a safe germ fighting solution to add to your hygienic arsenal. Good hygiene is well known as an excellent way to help stay healthy. This innovative product extends the benefits of a topical antiseptic to the site of possible infection at the skin of the nose with activity that can last for up to 8 hours (see research).

Why should I use NOZIN® Nasal Sanitizer® antiseptic?

Germs such as those that cause upper respiratory infection (URI) can invade your body through your nose, as well as, though less frequently, through your eyes or mouth. The nose is a main entry point for these germs because we are primarily nose breathers and habitual nose scratchers. You may acquire these germs by inhalation from the air or by touching your nose. Studies show that we may touch our faces over 100 times a day on average. Good hygiene such as washing your hands and using hand sanitizers can reduce your risk, but within seconds of washing up new germs can be picked up with ease, especially in crowded areas where germs are everywhere in the air, on objects and on hands. Before you even think about the last doorknob you touched or hand you just shook, you may have already touched your nose.

NOZIN® Nasal Sanitizer® antiseptic is intended to extend benefits of a topical antiseptic to the vulnerable facial area of the nose. NOZIN® Nasal Sanitizer® is especially recommended for use during exposure to areas at higher risk of containing hazardous germs such as crowded airplanes, trains, offices, gyms, hospitals, theaters and schools. Many doctors and health professionals are recommending NOZIN® Nasal Sanitizer® as part of regular hygiene.

Where can I buy NOZIN?

You can purchase NOZIN product online at drugstore.com, CVS.com, walgreens.com, amazon.com and here at NOZIN.com (USA only). Giant Eagle stores, Kerr Drug stores, Kinney Drugs Pharmacy carry NOZIN. The product is also available at Flight 001 stores and Home Environment Center sinusallergysite.com. NOZIN product is coming to more pharmacies and supermarkets, so check with your local stores. Your Pharmacist or local store can also order NOZIN product for you from Cardinal Health (use order #4266292) and from AmerisourceBergen (use order #108593).

What are the versions of the Nasal Sanitizer® product?

The Nasal Sanitizer® product comes in two versions. The bottle contains 8 ml (.27 fl oz) of product, enough for about 60 doses. This package also includes 30 starter swabs. This is a very economical presentation which can last at least a month, even if you apply twice a day. A great value! A brand new version is the 10 pack of prefilled POPswab™ amplues (pictured on right). Very handy. Both versions easily fit in a pocket or purse and are carry on approved for airlines.

What is the difference between the Nasal Sanitizer® product and a saline rinse?

Both products are recommended to help maintain good nasal hygiene. Saline rinses are used to irrigate and wash the nasal passages, usually with a spray bottle or neti pot lavage. This can also help clear mucus and congestion generally. The Nasal Sanitizer® product is an antiseptic applied topically with a swab to the front of the nose (vestibule). Health conscious people, including those who use saline nasal rinses and neti pots, often find the Nasal Sanitizer® swab an easy way to improve hygiene and boost their defense while on the go, just as we may use hand sanitizers when soap and water are not available.

Why are NOZIN products "Defense that makes sense®"?

nozin shieldNOZIN has a foundation in the same research and hygienic science that is relied upon by government health agencies and doctors to help reduce the risk of infection. The Centers for Disease Control advocates protecting yourself from germs by keeping away from sick people, washing your hands, using hand sanitizers and avoiding touching your eyes, mouth and nose (CDC link).

Good advice, even if hard to always follow. NOZIN® Nasal Sanitizer® antiseptic is designed to help improve hygiene at the nose because the nasal area is a primary point of infection. For instance, when we travel it's difficult to avoid crowds where the increased likelihood of being near a sick person exists. Even cleaned hands can be easily reinfected in this environment with a simple handshake, sharing a cell phone, touching an armrest or opening a door. Then, if you scratch your nose you could become infected. That's why NOZIN® Nasal Sanitizer® makes sense with an extra measure of defense right at the nose where germs often try to infect us.

When should I use the Nasal Sanitizer® product?

NOZIN® Nasal Sanitizer® antiseptic use is recommended as part of good hygiene and can be practiced regularly. It is also recommended for use when entering crowded areas such as planes, trains, offices, school, gyms and theaters.

Clinical tests indicate that the product does not have such side effects that are often associated with nasal sprays, gels, and decongestants. NOZIN® Nasal Sanitizer® is applied at the front area of the nose where it works to clean and protect the skin as it fights harmful germs that may be picked up from the environment.

Who uses NOZIN® Nasal Sanitizer® antiseptic?

Many business travelers, frequent flyers and health care providers enjoy the benefits of NOZIN® Nasal Sanitizer®. If you are concerned about exposure to harmful germs you should consider using this product as part of your regular hygiene for you and your family (see "Lesson in Hygiene" by Dr. Richard Bailey). Our scientists invented NOZIN® Nasal Sanitizer® in part to help improve the hygiene of their own families. The product is also ideal for students, office workers and anyone exposed to crowds. Health conscious people, such as those who use saline nasal rinses and neti pots, can find NOZIN an easy way to boost their defense while on the go, just as we may use hand sanitizers when soap and water are not available. Also, take a look at reviews and comments of some customers.

As you consider NOZIN products, keep in mind a little hygiene history. Today, hand washing is considered a routine necessity. It wasn't always. Hand washing as a way to prevent the spread of disease is a relatively modern practice that was not readily adopted at first (see "Why is Handwashing Important"). Even general acceptance of hand sanitizers has only occurred in the past decade or so. In this context, NOZIN® Nasal Sanitizer® can be seen as a logical next step in hygienic innovation to help reduce our risk of infection especially in higher risk situations (travel, work, school, gym, etc.). Interestingly, increased awareness of the benefits of nasal hygiene has also come along with revival of a traditional eastern practice for nasal irrigation.
