What is the NOZIN® Nasal Sanitizer® product?

The NOZIN Nasal Sanitizer product is a natural, long-acting antiseptic specially formulated to improve hygiene at your nose. Since your nose is the main entry point into your body for cold and flu germs, better hygiene here can help reduce the risk of infection. Good hygiene is well known as an excellent way to reduce your risk of infection by pathogens. As a safe germ fighting solution, NOZIN is a new advanced tool to add to your hygienic arsenal because it extends the benefits of an antimicrobial to the site of possible infection in the nose with activity that lasts for 8 hours (see research). NOZIN is especially recommended for use before exposure to areas at higher risk of containing hazardous germs such as crowded airplanes, trains, offices, gyms, hospitals, theaters and schools.

Why should I use NOZIN Nasal Sanitizer?

Germs that cause upper respiratory infection (URI) including colds and flu often invade your body through your nose, as well as, though less frequently, through your eyes or mouth. The nose is the main entry point for these germs because we are primarily nose breathers and habitual nose scratchers. You may acquire these germs by inhalation from the air or by touching your nose. Good hygiene such as washing your hands and using hand sanitizers can reduce your risk, but it is still possible to inhale airborne germs through the nose or to pick up germs on your hands between washings. NOZIN helps you fight back by working directly at the nose which is the most likely site of entry by germs known to cause URI.

Why is NOZIN "defense that makes sense"?

Unlike many products purporting to offer protection, NOZIN has a foundation in the same research and hygienic science that is relied upon by government health agencies and doctors. The Centers for Disease Control advocates protecting yourself from cold and flu germs by keeping away from sick people, washing your hands, using hand sanitizers and avoiding touching your eyes, mouth and nose (CDC web site example).

Good advice, even if hard to always follow. Nozin is designed to help improve hygiene at the nose because the nasal area is the primary point of infection. For instance, when we travel it's difficult to avoid crowds where the increased likelihood of being near a sick person exists. Even cleaned hands can be easily reinfected in this environment with a simple handshake, sharing a cell phone, touching an armrest or opening a door. Then, if you scratch your nose you could become infected. Also, in a crowded environment more germs find their way into the air you breathe. That's why NOZIN makes sense with an extra measure of long-acting defense right at the nose where germs often try to infect us. Learn more.

When should I use NOZIN?

NOZIN use is recommended as part of good hygiene and can be practiced regularly. But especially use NOZIN when entering crowded areas such as planes, trains, offices, school, gyms and theaters.

How is NOZIN applied?

bottle swabsA swab moistened with a few drops of NOZIN is applied to the inside tip of your nose around the nostrils. NOZIN is not a spray. Please read instructions and use as directed. For more detailed instructions please view the NOZIN flash tutorial and read the NOZIN package insert. (PDF file, Adobe Reader here.)

Can germs build resistance to NOZIN?

germsNo. NOZIN is not an antibiotic so germs will not build resistance.

What’s in NOZIN?

NOZIN is made from a proprietary formula of pharmaceutical grade ethyl alcohol and natural plant-based compounds with antioxidants known to have beneficial activity. The ingredients are on the FDA GRAS list (generally regarded as safe). NOZIN is gluten free. NOZIN fights harmful germs for hours, helps reduce the risk of infection and has a pleasant citrus scent. Nothing works like it.

No prescription is necessary. NOZIN is safe and effective when used as directed and can be used daily.

Is NOZIN Nasal Sanitizer a nasal spray?

NOZIN is not a nasal spray or a nasal decongestant. NOZIN is not habit forming, is non-drowsy and will not cause rebound congestion. Clinical tests indicate that NOZIN does not have such side effects that are often associated with nasal sprays, gels, and decongestants. NOZIN is applied only to the front area of the nose (vestibule) where it works to fight harmful germs that may be picked up from the environment.

Are there side effects associated with using NOZIN?  Is it habit-forming?

NOZIN is non-habit forming and there were no important adverse events in the subjects with limited exposure to the treatments in our study. The ingredients in NOZIN are designated GRAS (generally regarded as safe) by the FDA. For more information, please see our research page.

Is there research that supports NOZIN?

Yes. Lab tests show NOZIN kills 99.98% of many common disease causing germs. As illustrated in the graph below, clinical studies show NOZIN reduces harmful germs for over 8 hours. Studies were conducted at FDA compliant testing centers. For more information see research.

Who uses NOZIN?

Many business travelers, frequent flyers and health care providers enjoy the benefits of Nozin. If you are concerned about exposure to harmful germs you should consider using NOZIN as part of your regular hygiene for you and your family (see "Lesson in Hygiene" by Dr. Richard Bailey). Our scientists invented NOZIN in part to help improve the health of their own families. NOZIN is also ideal for students, office workers and anyone exposed to crowds. Health conscious people who practice regular nasal hygiene, such as neti pot users, can find Nozin an easy way to boost their defense while on the go. Also, take a look at reviews and comments of some Nozin users.

As you consider NOZIN, keep in mind a little hygiene history. Today, hand washing is considered a routine necessity. It wasn't always. Hand washing as a way to prevent the spread of disease is a relatively modern practice that was not readily adopted at first (see "Why is Handwashing Important"). Even general acceptance of hand sanitizers has only occurred in the past decade. In this context, NOZIN Nasal Sanitizer can be seen as a logical next step in hygienic innovation to help reduce our risk of infection especially in higher risk situations (travel, work, school, gym, etc.). Interestingly, increased awareness of the benefits of nasal hygiene has also come along with revival of a traditional eastern practice for nasal irrigation (see "Keeping Your Nose Clean").

Where can I buy NOZIN?

You can purchase NOZIN online here at NOZIN.com (USA only). NOZIN is also available at Flight 001 stores, Home Environment Center (www.sinusallergysite.com), Navarro Pharmacies (Miami), GNC (Miami) and at Newslink stores in Miami International and Boston Logan airports. The package also comes with 30 starter swabs. The bottle easily fits in a pocket or purse, is carry on approved and is convenient for travelers and other people on the go.
